Farewell to Comrade Tapan Bhowmik.
Today marks the retirement of Comrade Tapan Bhowmik, a sincere and dedicated leader who has made a lasting impact on the Postal Employees’ movement, especially for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS). Known for his integrity, simplicity, and steadfast commitment, he has been an inspiration to many.
Comrade Bhowmik began his service on 13th July 1989 as an Extra Departmental (now GDS) Branch Postmaster in Nadia South Division. Over the years, he emerged as a key figure in the union movement. He served as Circle Secretary of the former AIPEU, GDS, for three consecutive terms from 2018, and in 2022, he was elected General Secretary of the union.
A significant achievement in his career was leading the merger of AIPEU, GDS with AIGDSU in April 2024, a milestone that demonstrated his leadership and vision. Despite challenges, including being charge-sheeted under Rule 10(b) for his role in the December 2023 GDS strike, his determination and dedication only grew stronger.
Comrade Bhowmik is also known as a good singer and a committed social worker, reflecting his contributions beyond his professional role.
We hope he will continue to guide and inspire the GDS movement with his vast experience. AIGDSU CHQ looks forward to felicitating him at the next All India meeting in recognition of his significant contributions.
We extend our best wishes for a happy and peaceful retired life.
Red Salute to Comrade Tapan Bhowmik!
