VICTORY OF AIGDSU

We are all aware that nearly fifty days unnecessary delay has been taken place to publish the GDS committee report by the Department of posts. After series of struggles of AIGDSU only, the Department revealed the report of GDS committee.

These is no need to say again that the positive recommendations of GDS committee are the outcome of the AIGDSU uncompromised efforts. Most of the suggestions made in the Memorandum of AIGDSU had been taken into consideration by the GDS Committee and recommended in its report accordingly.

As a unique GDS recognized union, we put the responsibility on our shoulders for an early implementation of GDS Committee recommendations with suitable modifications suggested by AIGDSU and requested the Department for the same.

As there is no response from the Department, we are compelled to go on countrywide trade union action. As a part of the struggle, AIGDSU conducted an historical and uncompared dharna at Jantar Mantar on April 6^th 2017 with nearly Ten thousand GDS comrades. We are proud to say that it is not possible to anybody except AIGDSU in the Department of posts. In fact it is a mile stone in the History of AIGDSU trade union movement.

With the consultation and concurrence of all who attended to Dharna, an indefinite strike notice was served to the department of posts on 06.04.2017 demanding for an early implementation of GDS committee report including modifications suggested by AIGDSU.

The Department has come down and invited AIGDSU leaders for negotiations through e-mail letter. The General Secretary and all other leaders are on strike tour and unable to honour the department request immediately.

At last a meeting was held in Dak Bhavan with higher officers on 24-04-2017 in congenial atmosphere. After two hour discussions, the department agreed the demand of AIGDSU and a letter was issued to the union. There after AIGDSU deferred the indefinite strike. We hope that the Department should keep its word. This is the great achievement of AIGDSU regarding GDS committee. Really it is victory of AIGDSU.
