Sub:- Bonus ceiling for GDS
employees-Finance Ministry accepts and cabinet note
prepared.
Dear Comrades,
By this time, the news must have reached you that the Finance
Ministry has accepted our Justified demands for raising the bonus ceiling to
Rs. 3500/- at par with other employees. The Department of Posts has prepared
the cabinet note and submitted to the Hon’ble Minister for approval for
submission to the cabinet. A grand Achievement based on principle and justice.
This is an achievement for which we all our members, activists and leaders at
all stages have faught every inch. Hats off! Salutation and congratulations!
Comrades, some people who
have always tried to sabotage our justified demand would now like to steal the
wind form our sail. This is like someone smearing artificial brood to pose as a
martyr. The incidents are very fresh in our memory how every step of ours was
pulled. We started the struggle from the day in 2008 when the discrimination of
lesser ceiling of Rs. 2500 was done. Our hunger strike was misled by leaders
who as self appointed representatives claimed to have met the then Secretary
and secured an assurance that the demand would be met. This did not come and
the discrimination and injustice continued. And along with continued our
struggle. Don’t we remember the tweet they flashed on their website when the
case was referred by the Finance Ministry back to the Department of Posts
seeking some further clarification. This flashed rumours over their website
that our case was rejected and were rejoicuing. They, at every step worked as
morale-killers to disappoint our members. But credit goes to our members who
did not fall prey to such rumours. Some self seekers bearing personal
allegiance to an arnbitious person are working like agents-saboteurs.
Our struggle continued and
the last phase was to culminate in four days relay fast from 5.08.2013 to
8.08.2013. The intensity of our struggle was recognised and the Secretary
Department of Posts addressed a D.O. letter to Com. S.S. Mahadevaiah, General
Secretary assuring her help to clinch the issue and urging us not to go on with
the programme. We acted as a responsible trade union and deferred the
programme. We are thankful to Ms. P. Gopinath, Secretary Department of Posts.
The assurance given has been translated to action.
Comrades, while our brave
comrades were managing the struggles at Circle/Divisional/Branch level, we as
CHQ were also engaged mobilising support for our demand. We waited on
deputation to several authorities. In this inobilisation we received genuine
and active support from Sri Oscar Fernandez, Hon’ble Transport Minister and
Com. Gurudas Das Gupta, M.P. who
strived hard for our cause.
We would place on record the help extended by. Sri Rahul Gandhi, M.P. and his
personal staff. We offer our sincere thanks to them for the help.
We must place on record the efforts of our Tamilnadu Comrades
who made sincere efforts to explain the position to Sri. P.Chidambram, Hon’ble
Finance Minister and mobilise support for our cause. Com. C.B. Tiwari, Circle
Secretary, U.P. Circle, and other Amethi
Comrades, Com. Lakvender Pal Singh C/S Punjab also Com. Vijay Naiyari, Working
President Karnatak Circle, who were every active in their efforts and arranged
sufficiant support as required. On the whole this goes to the credit of all
Circle Secretaries, Branch Secretaries and members for maintaining rock like
unity and responding to our calb Salutations again!
Dear Comrades, some very
alarming instances have come to light where persons of other unions been collecting the amount of subscription
from DDOs on account of our members. We smell rate. We are undertaking further investigation
and proper action.
We are alive to all very
basic problems and we shall achieve every inch of land that belongs to us. Our
sustained efforts continue unabated. We are sure of positive response from all
those who believe in uplift of the GDS employees and especially our own members
to remain alive and on guard.
May we request you to
realise your other responsibility of remitting immediately your due quota of
subscription to CHQ. We are facing finance crunch which impedes our efforts and
vigour.
We wish to hold a large
scale convection and March sometime in December, 2013 to demonstrate our unity
and pledge. The Circles and Branches should remain in readiness.
With Puja and Idulzoha greeting in advance.
(S.S. Mahadevaiah)
General Secretary
