AIGDSU – Nationwide General Strike

Today, the Nationwide General Strike was successfully observed by Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), Postal, RMS employees, and Postmen across the country. From early morning itself, staunch participation was witnessed in many circles with great zeal and discipline.

The strike received massive support and response from the ground, and reports are still pouring in from various divisions, along with thousands of photos and videos shared across our social media platforms and official channels.

This strike was organized to:

• Oppose privatization, merger of BOs, and the Indian Post Office (Amendment) Bill 2023

• Demand inclusion of GDS in the 8th Central Pay Commission

• Demand pension, medical facilities, gratuity, GIS, and other long-pending justified rights for GDS

Many divisions made commendable arrangements and mobilized a large number of employees, showcasing a united face of the postal workforce.

Reports have already been received from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Kerala, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana  West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, North East, and more are on the way. Visuals are received from more than 21+ circles. 

At the same time, shortcomings and gaps in a few regions have also been noted. These will be reviewed internally, and the next phase will focus on strengthening the organization at all levels. Let no room be left for delay. Prepare for intensified struggles ahead.

This has been a thundering and successful strike, one of the most remarkable actions in recent times. We convey our sincere thanks and revolutionary greetings to all the fearless leaders, workers, and members who stood firm in this historical action.

AIGDSU – राष्ट्रव्यापी आम हड़ताल

आज देशभर में ग्रामीण डाक सेवकों (GDS), डाक विभाग, RMS कर्मियों और पोस्टमैन द्वारा राष्ट्रव्यापी आम हड़ताल सफलतापूर्वक मनाई गई। सुबह से ही कई सर्किलों में जोश और अनुशासन के साथ जबरदस्त भागीदारी देखी गई।

जमीनी स्तर से इस हड़ताल को व्यापक समर्थन और प्रतिक्रिया मिली। देश के विभिन्न मंडलों से लगातार रिपोर्टें प्राप्त हो रही हैं, और हमारे सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफार्मों एवं आधिकारिक चैनलों पर हजारों फ़ोटो और वीडियो साझा किए जा चुके हैं।

यह हड़ताल निम्नलिखित मांगों और विरोध के लिए आयोजित की गई:

• निजीकरण, बी.ओ. विलय और इंडियन पोस्ट ऑफिस (संशोधन) विधेयक 2023 का विरोध

• ग्रामीण डाक सेवकों को 8वें केंद्रीय वेतन आयोग में शामिल करने की मांग

• GDS के लिए पेंशन, चिकित्सा सुविधा, ग्रेच्युटी, GIS और अन्य वर्षों से लंबित वैध अधिकारों की मांग

कई मंडलों ने शानदार तैयारियाँ कीं और बड़ी संख्या में कर्मचारियों को संगठित किया, जिससे डाक विभाग का एकजुट चेहरा सामने आया।

तमिलनाडु, महाराष्ट्र, कर्नाटक, पंजाब, केरल, बिहार, जम्मू-कश्मीर, गुजरात और पश्चिम बंगाल, आंध्र प्रदेश, ओडिशा, असम, उत्तर-पूर्व, राजस्थान एवं हरियाणा. देश के 21+ सर्किलों से रिपोर्टें प्राप्त हो चुकी हैं, और शेष से रिपोर्टें आ रही हैं।

वहीं, कुछ क्षेत्रों में कमियाँ और अंतर भी सामने आए हैं, जिन्हें संगठन के स्तर पर गंभीरता से समीक्षा की जाएगी। अगला चरण संगठन को हर स्तर पर मज़बूत करने की दिशा में केंद्रित रहेगा। अब किसी भी देरी की गुंजाइश नहीं। आगामी संघर्षों की तैयारी तेज़ करें।

यह हड़ताल गूंजदार और ऐतिहासिक रही, हालिया समय की सबसे प्रभावशाली कार्रवाई में से एक। हम इस ऐतिहासिक संघर्ष में मजबूती से खड़े सभी साहसी नेताओं, कार्यकर्ताओं और सदस्यों को क्रांतिकारी अभिनंदन और हार्दिक धन्यवाद प्रेषित करते हैं।

 Stand to Safeguard Rural Postal Services – Join 9th July One Day Strike

The Postal Department is not just another office, it is the backbone of rural India, connecting the last mile where no other government service reaches. This vital establishment is now facing challenges due to certain policies like IDC, unregulated mechanisation, and the merger of BPMs/ABPMs, which are leading to closure of Branch Offices in remote areas.

Key issues concerning service conditions, job security, and the long-term protection of GDS remain unresolved. Our concerns are with the direction of these policies, which, if continued, may weaken one of the most people-oriented arms of the government.

We respectfully demand:

  •  Inclusion of GDS under the 8th Central Pay Commission

  •  Grant of Civil Servant status as directed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court

  •  Resolution of long pending demands -Pension, Gratuity, Medical benefits, and more

  •  Protection of existing Cadres and rural Branch Offices from disbanding

Every GDS is urged to rise above daily routine and participate in the One Day General Strike on 9th July to defend our service, our future, and the public trust we carry.

Appeal to All Postal and GDS Employees

Make 9th July 2025 – One Day General Strike – a Grand Success

All Circle Secretaries, CWC Members, Divisional/Branch Secretaries, and Active Members of AIGDSU are requested to intensify the campaign in the remaining days to ensure massive participation in the One Day General Strike on 9th July 2025.

This strike is being organized against the dangerous policies of privatization, pro-corporate and anti-employee measures, and anti-people decisions of the government. Gramin Dak Sevaks are directly affected by:

   •   Denial of pension, medical, and other social security benefits

   •   Independent Delivery Centres (IDC)

   •   Protest against merger of Branch Post Offices

   •   Push for privatization in the postal sector

   •   The anti-worker Postal Act 2023

We have a long history of participating in historic strikes, and this is another moment to rise. This is a Nationwide Strike, not a formality. Every branch, every unit, every comrade must ensure active participation.

We, therefore, appeal to all comrades to take this call seriously, mobilize en masse, and make the 9th July One Day General Strike a total success.

सभी सर्कल सचिवों, CWC सदस्यों, मंडल/शाखा सचिवों एवं सक्रिय सदस्यों से आग्रह है कि शेष बचे दिनों में जोरदार प्रचार अभियान चलाएं ताकि 9 जुलाई 2025 की एक दिवसीय हड़ताल में भारी संख्या में भागीदारी सुनिश्चित हो सके।

यह हड़ताल निजीकरण की खतरनाक नीतियों, कॉरपोरेटपरस्त, कर्मचारी विरोधी और जनविरोधी निर्णयों के खिलाफ आयोजित की जा रही है। ग्रामीण डाक सेवक निम्नलिखित मुद्दों से सीधे प्रभावित हो रहे हैं:

   •   पेंशन, चिकित्सा और अन्य सामाजिक सुरक्षा लाभों से वंचित

   •   इंडिपेंडेंट डिलीवरी सेंटर्स (IDC) का विरोध

हमारा इतिहास संघर्षों और हड़तालों से भरा रहा है। यह एक और अवसर है जब हमें एकजुट होकर अपनी ताकत दिखानी है। यह राष्ट्रव्यापी हड़ताल कोई औपचारिकता नहीं, बल्कि एक निर्णायक कदम है। हर शाखा, हर इकाई, हर साथी को सक्रिय भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करनी है।

अतः हम सभी साथियों से गंभीरता से अपील करते हैं कि संगठित हों, एकजुट हों और 9 जुलाई की एक दिवसीय हड़ताल को पूरी तरह सफल बनाएं।

As part of the campaign for the 9th July Nationwide Strike, a gate meeting was successfully organized today at Bangalore GPO. The meeting saw an impressive and enthusiastic gathering of postal employees.

The program was addressed by several prominent leaders including:

• Com. Janardan Majumdar, Secretary General, NFPE
• Com. S.S. Mahadevaiah, General Secretary, AIGDSU
• Com. Prasad, COC Secretary
• Com. Janki Ram
• Com. Mallikarjuna, Circle Secretary P-4
• Com. Raj Kumar H V, Circle Secretary, AIGDSU
• Com. Rudresh Dy Circle Secretary P 4
• Leaders from Postal Accounts, Survey of India, and other Central Government organizations participated.

Speakers strongly condemned the anti-employee and anti-public policies such as IDC, arbitrary mechanization, and proposed closure/merger of post offices. They called for a united resistance to protect the postal department from dismantling by backdoor means.

Emphasis was laid on the urgent need for implementation of the 8th Central Pay Commission and inclusion of GDS within its purview. Demand for extending full civil servant benefits to GDS was also reiterated.

The speakers appealed to all comrades to make the 9th July Strike a historic and total success by mobilizing every section of postal and GDS employees under a common banner of struggle.

We, therefore, call upon all to rise unitedly and ensure massive participation on 9th July to protect our department, our jobs, and our rights.

AIGDSU Virtual Meeting Report

 AIGDSU Virtual Meeting Report Date: 24th June 2025

Time: 6:00 PM Platform: Virtual Mode

The All India Gramin Dak Sevaks Union (AIGDSU) conducted a virtual meeting on 24th June 2025 at 6:00 PM which went over 3.5 hrs long under the Presidentship of Com. B. Venkateshwarlu, All India President. More than 45 participants joined, including all 22 Circle Secretaries, CHQ Office Bearers, Senior Union Advisors Com. Jaiswal and Com. Tapan Bhowmik, special invitees, and other active comrades.

Each Circle Secretary presented the prevailing situation in their respective circles. Several burning issues were raised:

   •   Day-by-day increase in unachievable targets without proper infrastructure.

   •   Problems arising from unplanned mechanisation and lack of training.

   •   Non-settlement of even minor issues by local administrations.

   •   Poor functioning of Lok Adalats in multiple circles.

   • Compassionate Appointment, Retirement Benefits etc.

   •   Irregular conduct of monthly, bi-monthly, and four-monthly meetings in several divisions.

A detailed discussion was held regarding the strike on 9th July 2025. All members unanimously supported the strike, expressing the urgency to resist the ongoing injustices against GDS.

There was also a heated discussion on the Department’s proposed Non-Monetary Incentive Scheme. A majority of Circle Secretaries strongly opposed the scheme, stating that such proposals- offering long working hours without fair monetary compensation are not only vague but also carry the risk of dividing the GDS cadre into “old” and “new” categories. The members were of the clear view that if someone works 6 to 7 hours, they deserve regular pay and status not token gestures in the name of incentives.

Several concrete proposals were finalised during the meeting and will be submitted formally to the Department.

In his concluding remarks, the General Secretary addressed the key points raised and appreciated the participation of all comrades. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by the CHQ, marking the session as a highly successful and unified organisational effort.

We, therefore, request all GDS comrades to remain prepared for the upcoming 9th July strike and continue to strengthen our unity and struggle.

अखिल भारतीय ग्रामीण डाक सेवक संघ (AIGDSU) की वर्चुअल बैठक 24 जून 2025 को शाम 6:00 बजे आयोजित की गई, जो लगभग 3 घंटे 30 मिनट तक चली। बैठक की अध्यक्षता अखिल भारतीय अध्यक्ष कॉम. बी. वेंकटेश्वरलु ने की। बैठक में सभी 22 सर्कल सचिवों, केंद्रीय मुख्यालय पदाधिकारियों, वरिष्ठ यूनियन सलाहकार कॉम. जैसवाल व कॉम. तपन भौमिक, विशेष आमंत्रित साथियों सहित कुल 45 से अधिक प्रतिनिधियों ने भाग लिया।

बैठक में प्रत्येक सर्कल सचिव ने अपने सर्कल की वर्तमान स्थिति रखी। जिनमें कई गंभीर समस्याएं उजागर हुईं:

   •   अपर्याप्त संसाधनों के बीच लगातार असंभव लक्ष्यों में वृद्धि।

   •   यंत्रिकीकृत कार्य प्रणाली में जल्दबाज़ी और प्रशिक्षण की कमी।

   •   स्थानीय प्रशासन द्वारा छोटे-छोटे मामलों का भी समाधान न किया जाना।

   •   कई सर्कलों में लोक अदालतों का ठीक से कार्य न करना।

   •   सहानुभूति के आधार पर नियुक्ति, सेवानिवृत्ति लाभ आदि मुद्दे।

   •   कई डिवीजनों में मासिक, द्वैमासिक और त्रैमासिक बैठकों का नियमित रूप से न होना।

9 जुलाई 2025 की राष्ट्रव्यापी हड़ताल पर भी विस्तृत चर्चा हुई। सभी साथियों ने सर्वसम्मति से हड़ताल का समर्थन किया और इसे आवश्यक बताया ताकि GDS के खिलाफ हो रहे अन्याय का विरोध किया जा सके।

विभाग द्वारा प्रस्तावित गैर-आर्थिक प्रोत्साहन योजना (Non-Monetary Incentive Scheme) पर भी जोरदार बहस हुई। अधिकांश सर्कल सचिवों ने इस योजना को नकारा और कहा कि बिना उचित वेतन के लंबे समय तक काम करवाना न केवल अस्वीकार्य है, बल्कि इससे GDS कर्मचारियों के बीच विभाजन की स्थिति पैदा होगी। सभी की एक राय थी कि अगर कोई 6 से 7 घंटे काम करता है तो उसे नियमित वेतन और मान्यता मिलनी चाहिए, न कि सिर्फ नाम के लिए प्रोत्साहन।

बैठक में कई ठोस प्रस्ताव तैयार किए गए, जिन्हें शीघ्र ही विभाग को सौंपा जाएगा।

बैठक के अंत में महासचिव ने सभी उठाए गए मुद्दों को स्पष्ट किया और सभी साथियों की सक्रिय भागीदारी की सराहना की। अध्यक्षीय संबोधन के बाद केंद्रीय मुख्यालय द्वारा धन्यवाद ज्ञापन के साथ यह वर्चुअल बैठक सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न हुई।

हम, अतः सभी GDS साथियों से अपील करते हैं कि 9 जुलाई की हड़ताल के लिए पूर्ण रूप से तैयार रहें और हमारी एकता एवं संघर्ष को और मज़बूत करें।
